Professional Experience:
Rod Skoglund has over twenty-five years of legal experience in advising, counseling, and assisting U.S. and foreign based clients in various aspects of patent, trademark, and copyright law. He also has extensive experience in various other intellectual property related matters such as licenses, contracts, and opinion work. His patent practice focuses primarily on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, including post-grant proceedings and appellate practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice also emphasizes client counseling in the nature of patentability, non infringement, and invalidity opinions as well as negotiating licenses and development agreements. He has experience in all areas of technology, but his principal experience is in the biotechnical, chemical, and mechanical arts, with a particular interest in polymers, fibers, and nanotechnology.

His trademark practice includes prosecution and protection of U.S. and international trademark applications and registrations, including related oppositions and cancellations before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also assists clients in prosecuting and litigating trademarks in foreign countries. Rod is a member of the American Bar Association, including the Intellectual Property Law Section, the Ohio Bar Association, the Akron Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Chemical Society, and is the firm's representative to the International Trademark Association (INTA).

When not in the office, Rod can be found enjoying leisure activities with his wife and three children.
