Professional Experience:
Derek Somogy joined Renner Kenner in 2007 after graduating from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University.  He received his undergraduate degree in Physics from The College of Wooster in 2002.  Derek works in all areas of intellectual property, including litigation.

Prior to joining Renner Kenner, Derek worked for a patent attorney in Columbus.  He also worked for the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. on the study Whither Biometrics?  While in law school, Derek worked in the civil law clinic and was a senior editor for I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society.

Derek is a member of the Akron Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.  He is also a member of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.  From 2008 – 2011, Derek will serve as a Representative of the New Lawyers Section Council for the Ohio State Bar Association.
